The Secret Life of Cell Phones

Have you ever wondered what to do with all those old cell phones lying around in the house? That was a good conversation starter for one of my ESL classes. We brainstormed options and we used that same question as focus question to watch a video clip called "The Secret Life of Cell Phones".
Check out this video and also visit the website "secret-life.org" for more ideas.

You can also use the free photocopiable handout "The Cell Phone Age" from http://handoutsonline.com/. Click on Free Samples and scroll down until you find worksheet #5.

For more information visit the US Environmental Protection Agency website http://www.epa.gov/waste/partnerships/plugin/cellphone/index.htm

It could also be a nice Civics project if you turn it into a Fundraiser. This website gives you all the tools to collect old cellphones to raise money for a local charity http://www.phoneraiser.com.

If you have more ideas that you would like to share, please post a comment with more links.
